EXPORTS AGRIBUSINESS IN August totaled US $ 10,17 BILLION

Brazilian agribusiness exports, in August 2013, were US$ 10,17 billion, value that represents a growth of 15,4% in relation to the same period of 2012. Imports suffered a small decrease of 0,5%, of US $ 1,47 billion to US$ 1,46 billion. this way, the balance of US$ 7,79 billion of the trade balance was positive. The information is from the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (SRI/Map).

In August, the main export sector was the soy complex, responsible for 35,6% of agribusiness exports or US$ 3,95 billion. The second export sector was the sugar and alcohol complex, with a growth of 12,7% in relation to august of 2012. Meat exports appear right after with revenue of US$ 1,43 billion and increase of 8,5% in sales.

In reference to Brazilian agribusiness exports divided by economic blocks, sales to the Asian continent stood out once again and reached the amount of US$ 4,55 billion. Asia's share rose from 37,8% in order to 44,7% in 2013. The second main destination block was the European Union with the value of US$ 2 billion.

Sales to the Chinese went over US$ 1,82 billion to US$ 2,8 billion, increase of 53,3%. China was the highlight among the destination countries, shortly thereafter, the United States appear, with US $ 763,62 millions or growth of 8,5%.

Result from January to August of 2013

Between January and August, agribusiness exports grew 10,3% and reached the figure of US$ 69,04 billion. A growth of 10,3% in relation to the US$ 62,57 billion exported in the same period of 2012.

The five main export sectors of agribusiness were soy complex (US$ 24,89 billion); meats ($11.02 billion); sugar and alcohol complex (US$ 9,11 billion); forest products (US$ 6,36 billion) and cereals, flours and preparations (US$ 4,02 billion).
